My husband and I are first time home buyers with absolutely no idea where to start in terms of looking for a realtor. So, we did what everyone else does and asked on a public social media forum who people would recommend.
Our criteria: someone who works with first timers.
Someone who will work FOR US and not *just* for the money.
Someone who will move heaven and Earth to help us find a home (our province is in a serious housing crisis, and homes are insanely expensive at the moment).

Whenever I sent a property to Jo, I was always viewing it less than 24 hours later!
Jo has a wide range of work experience. I don’t think there is an industry she hasn’t worked in. This allows her to have a great deal of knowledge around the inner workings and “guts” of the house.
She knows what Piping should be used and where, if something is off with the plumbing, septic, electrical system etc. I feel very confident in saying that Jo will notice it and inform you of what it will take to fix it and whether that can be negotiated in price or if it’s within your budget or lifestyle to fix it. This saved us so much time (and money) in inspections because we trust Jo.
Sidenote: always get an inspection! This is in terms of getting one on every house you really “love”. We felt informed enough by Jo’s knowledge to continue looking at other properties if she noticed something instead of paying for an inspection for them to tell us the same thing…or lie!

Jo also has connections that will help you save! Ask her about window replacement ;).
